A Boodle Fight to Remember
"The fondest memories are made when gathered around the table."
For most tropical countries, summer is just around the corner and maybe most of you guys already have a long list of things to do for this dazzling season. Oh summer, what kind of power do you have? ^^
My friends and I decided to kick the summer off with a hearty celebration, a Boodle Fight experience. First and foremost, what is a boodle fight? Well, most of us might think that this is a Filipino eating tradition when in fact it's not. Yes, eating with one's bare hands is a common practice done by most Filipinos but boodle fight is a style of eating originally thought by the cadets of the Philippine Military Academy to symbolize equality and camaraderie. Secondly, what happens in a boodle fight? The preparation is way too simple. Basically, all you need is a good long table, banana leaves and of course the food. Common dishes that are prepared in a boodle fight are grilled and fried food, seafood, and stir fried noodles. The viands and the rice are just simply served on a banana leaf and voila! You may now start eating a substantial meal ala military way. Finally, why try boodle fight? It's a fun and exciting dining experience as compared to eating in a fancy restaurant. It increases one's appetite the moment you see the spread on the table. Boodle fight is also a good time to bond with family or friends and enrich the value of sharing. So, I guess that's it. I hope you try boodle fight, be it at the comforts of your home or in the convenience of a restaurant.
